On February 18, 2013, Li Yang filed an appeal. On February 25, 2013, Li Yang reached a settlement agreement with Kim, and Li Yang withdrew his appeal.

The day the two sides reached the settlement agreement was the last day for Li Yang to pay the appeal fee. That is, the two sides must reach a settlement on that day, or Li would have to pay the appeal fee and the case would go to the second trial.

In order for the two sides to reach a settlement agreement on Feb. 25, 2013, Qi Lianfeng drafted the settlement agreement the day before, on Feb. 24, which is the 15th day of the first lunar month. Qi spent the whole day drafting the agreement and several rounds of communication with Li's lawyer, after which the agreement was revised. The two sides finally confirmed the final draft of the settlement agreement is already more than 1:00 in the morning, lawyers Qi Lianfeng and Li Yang just finished the day's work.
